Featured Purveyor -Albert Carver

For three generations, the Carver family of Beals Island, Maine (N 44:31:11/W67:36:56) has sourced shellfish from the nutrient rich waters of The Gulf of Maine.  Albert Carver (the A.C. in A.C. Inc.) and John Price (the J.P. in J.P.’s Shellfish) both entered the shellfish industry roughly 30 years ago, and they quickly developed a mutual respect for each other which to this day remains the foundation of their business relationship.  It didn’t take long for Albert and John to appreciate that their businesses would complement each other quite nicely.  With some of the richest waters in the world quite literally in Albert’s back yard, he was (and continues to be) able to source the finest quality shellfish available anywhere.  However…As is so often is the case, especially in this industry…There are only so many hours in the day, and just because you have the ability and the time to source product, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have the time, means, or even the desire to distribute?  And vice versa.  Enter John Price.  John has done a terrific job seeking out suppliers who are the very best at what they do, and concentrated on bringing their products to the light of day and beyond.  Of equal importance is the old saw which reminds us “You conduct business with people you like”.  Albert and John cut their teeth together in the industry, and there is an inherent trust that one will always act in the other’s best interest.  This is a fact that everyone, right down to the end consumer, should be thankful for.  Albert’s commitment to providing us with only the finest quality goods is evident in each and every one of his products, and we at J.P.’s Shellfish are committed to delivering this premium grade product to you in a quick, cost effective manner.  This is a classic example of one hand washing the other.  Without each other, neither A.C. Inc. nor J.P.’s Shellfish could realize their potential.  Those of you who are sourcing A.C. Inc.’s products (soft-shell clams, “Island Made Steamers”, Jonah crab, Maine lobster) through us should consider perhaps bringing this human-interest aspect of the shellfish industry to your clientele.  An inherent level of accountability is generated when you put a name and or face with the product.  Thank you Albert, and all at A.C. Inc.  We at J.P.’s Shellfish are very proud to have you as partners in the industry.
